Outstanding for its simplicity and therefore ease of manufacture, it is chambered for the Russian 7.62 mm, which is interchangeable with the German 7.63mm. Made at the Tula Arsenal through the mid 1950s, it was also at least partially made in China as the Shiki 51. Also made in Poland in large quantities, with a serial number preceded by a letter from A to K. Pistol was also prominent in East Germany and Hungary.
