Originally designed in Russia in 1947 by Kalashnikov. Rifle was made also in China, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia and Hungary. Imported and modified in the United States with many cosmetic variations by several U.S. companies, all of which can be recognized by the gas cylinder tube above the barrel. Valuation of the guns depends on the cosmetic changes and the country of manufacture. The Chinese have manufactured over 700 million of these rifles.
